LUIS MONSANTE I have been a glassblower for just about six years. I have always been unexplainably attracted to glass. Even as a small child I would take my moms small glass animals and play with them even though I had plenty of toys to play with. As I got older I found myself drawn into the world of functional glass and that’s when glass took over my life. After years of collecting all sorts of glass from functional pieces to pendants and marbles, it was time to get my hands on a torch. I watched every You-Tube video I could find; from setting up a torch, to what kind of safety equipment to purchase, tools, & ect. With little to no professional help, I slowly managed to gather what I needed and set up shop in my garage. On March of 2012, I finally started my torch for the first time. Just three years later I quit my job to be a full time glassblower. In 2016, a couple of friends and I started “BoroCon - The Double Blown Show”. This would be DFW’s first glassblowing arts festival, full of amazing art, vendors, great food and much more! The two day live glassblowing festival has opened the door for high tiered artists to connect with others from around the country! Over the last couple years I have had a chance to work with some amazing artist that I have admired since before I started blowing glass, some who’s work I had already been collecting over the years. I am now preparing for the first time, a solo showcase of my work thanks to Ignite Art Co. which will feature a variety collaborations with many well know glass artist, who I am happy to call friends. I am very grateful to all of those who have supported me and made it possible for me to do what I love!
